What kind of place is Bitez? Who is it suitable for?

Bitez is a neighborhood that stays lively year-round. Thanks to schools, a library, the courthouse, and neighboring Konacık, it's a place where locals live all year long; this gives it a “real life” texture that's not found in other towns. But when we say lively, we don't mean a crazy nightlife — Bitez has a calmer, more “heavy hitter” kind of vibe. Just as Gümüşlük has its bohemianism, Bitez has a serene yet high-quality character.

It is useful to divide the region in two: Bitez Village Interior, the “heart” district, which has hosted the best restaurants, bars, and boutiques in recent years, among its stone houses and narrow streets; Bitez Beach a long coastline lined with seaside restaurants, cafes, and beach clubs. Its old name, from the citrus groves, “Ağaçlı”; “Bitez yalısı” in the famous Turkish folk song is not a building, but this coast itself.

Who is it suitable for? Ideal for families with children and non-swimmers with its shallow, safe sea; perfect for those who want a base close to the center but quieter than the center; however, it's not for those seeking extravagant nightlife (for them, Gümbet is just a few minutes away).

Dolmuş buses depart from the center to Bitez approximately every 20 minutes during the summer (every 30 minutes in winter); the journey by private car takes about 15 minutes. Since it's a short distance, a taxi is also a reasonable option and a good alternative to crowded dolmuş buses on busy summer days.

Bitez Beach

Bodrum Municipality's public beaches list lists four separate beaches in Bitez: Bitez Public Beach, Bitez Kıyı Public Beach, Bitez Blue Flag Public Beach and Bitez Yeni Public Beach. The facilities listed by the municipality include toilets, showers, changing cabins, sun loungers, umbrellas, food and drink, lifeguards and an accessible entry platform. The beaches stretch along both the right and the left side of the shore.

Sahilin on the right end A wide sandy beach, one of Bodrum's most ideal spots for families with children: approximately 60 meters long, shallow, flat, and spotlessly clean. Since it's in a bay, the sea is usually calm; after going 100 meters from the shore, the water only reaches your waist, and the bottom is sandy. Because it receives little wind, the sea is generally lukewarm throughout the summer. On the left There are smaller, pebbly public beach areas; they are close to cafes, but since they are small, you need to go early in the summer.

For adults who want to swim to their heart's content, the sea might be too shallow; those who want to avoid the sound of children might prefer the other end of the beach. If you want to compare Bitez beach with all of Bodrum's beaches, To our guide to Bodrum beaches Take a look.
